Cryotherapy
for People and Horses
How it works
Cryotherapy uses CO2 and the Subzero device to deliver cold therapy in seconds. This is called “thermal shock”. Using the Subzero, skin temperatures can be dropped to a therapeutic level of 32 degrees Fahrenheit in seconds, giving you more time to get back to your life.
“Thermal Shock” is the broad term, but what is it actually doing? There are 4 principals of this: Vasomotor, Analgesic, Muscle Relaxant, and Anti-inflammatory.
Vasomotor- means that the blood vessels constrict, taking away inflammatory waste, then dilate to bring oxygen rich blood back to the area.
Analgesic- decreases pain by slowing down pain-causing nerve signals.
Muscle Relaxant- it reduces spasms and promotes healing.
Anti-inflammatory- reduces swelling by temporarily decreasing blood flow, temperature, and metabolic rate of wounded tissue.
What can be helped with Cryotherapy for humans?
Orthopedic conditions such as pain, arthritis, tendonitis, bursitis, strains, sprains, impingement, disc issues, carpal tunnel and cubital tunnel syndrome, tennis elbow, golfer’s elbow, contusions, post-surgery and more.

For horses?
Horses can have a lot of the same injury and orthopedic issues as people. But in addition to those things, cryotherapy can help with tendinopathy, tendon rupture, suspensory ligament injuries, hematomas, post-surgery and post injury recovery, Cellulitis, laminitis, among other things. It also helps promote overall wellness and maintenance.
